Milken Athletics is excited to welcome Coach Tom Lewis as the new Varsity Girls’ Basketball Coach and Program Head for Basketball in grades 6-12. With over 33 years of experience at multiple levels of the game, Tom brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the program. As a player, he had an outstanding career at Mater Dei, earning McDonald's All-American and California Player of the Year honors before competing at USC, Pepperdine, the Philadelphia 76ers, Portugal, and the USA Olympic Team. His coaching career is just as impressive, with roles at Mater Dei, Cal State Long Beach, New Mexico State, and Rutgers, as well as professional stints with the Chicago Blaze and WNBA's Phoenix Mercury.

Beyond coaching, Tom has dedicated himself to player development, training elite athletes like Tyson Chandler, Kyle Kuzma, and Ed O'Bannon. He has also founded and directed California’s largest basketball showcase, attracting over 100 high school teams annually for 17 years. With over 600 career wins, Tom prioritizes a “players-first mentality” and is passionate about building a strong foundation for young athletes. “I am super excited to join the Milken community and cannot wait to build a comprehensive 6-12 program that will give our kids opportunities to be successful both on the court and in life,” he shared. His official start date is May 1, 2025.

Renee Crane discovered her passion for distance running as a freshman at Cedar Crest College, where she competed in Division III cross country. Starting as a back-of-the-pack runner, she steadily improved through determination and hard work, ultimately earning team captaincy and multiple honors, including Most Improved Player, Nellie Manges Scholar-Athlete, and recognition on the PAC All-Academic and All-Sportsmanship teams. Beyond collegiate competition, she has completed four marathons, numerous half marathons, and three triathlons.

Crane began her teaching and coaching career in 2008 before joining Milken in 2016 as a science teacher. In 2018, she founded the middle school track and cross country programs before transitioning to coaching high school athletes. Under her leadership, Milken’s cross country and track programs have grown significantly, with both teams achieving league championships and historic CIF appearances. She is passionate about fostering resilience, teamwork, and a love for running, helping student-athletes push their limits and build a supportive community.

Coach Elliott Turner brings nearly three decades of coaching experience, a deep understanding of the game, and a commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the field. A former Division I offensive lineman at Texas Southern University, he excelled as a center, guard, and deep snapper while maintaining academic honors and a passion for the arts. His early playing days in Texas instilled in him the values of perseverance, teamwork, and leadership—principles that now guide his coaching philosophy.

Turner's career began in youth football programs in Texas before he moved to California, where he took on coaching and teaching roles at the middle and high school levels. Since joining Milken in 2016, he has led the football program to new heights, securing multiple playoff appearances and setting new school records. Under his leadership, Milken athletes have earned All-CIF honors and college scholarships, with players competing at Division I programs such as Duke and Columbia. With a focus on skill development, discipline, and teamwork, Coach Turner continues to build a strong foundation for Milken’s football program and its student-athletes.

Aileen Nasypany has built an impressive career in soccer as a player, coach, and leader.  Competing at the NCAA Division I and II levels with Canisius University and Bentley University, she helped her team win a Northeast-10 Conference Championship. Transitioning to coaching, Aileen quickly earned Conference Coach of the Year honors and led Herkimer College to a playoff berth in her first year. She contributed to the launch of two women’s professional soccer Leagues, serving in key front-office roles within the Boston Breakers (WUSA) and WPS League Office.

Over the past 20+ years, Coach Aileen has made a lasting impact from youth to professional level. As Assistant Coach at UC Santa Cruz, she helped the program achieve three NCAA Playoff appearances, a top 25 ranking, and an undefeated season in 2007 that led to the NCAA Sweet 16. As a Head Coach, she founded Academy of Art University’s first women’s soccer team and guided CSU Dominguez Hills through significant growth, earning multiple NSCAA Team Academic Awards. She further elevated her career, winning three consecutive Silver Mug National Tournament championships and an Open State Cup title as Head Coach of the semi-pro SF Nighthawks. Beyond coaching, Aileen took immense pride in mentoring these elite players and facilitating their transitions into professional careers in Europe.

Aileen holds a Business Administration degree from Bentley University and a Master’s in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine, along with multiple NSCAA coaching licenses. Most recently, she served as Director of Athletics at Notre Dame Academy and now brings her expertise to Milken Community School, where she is dedicated to developing the next generation of soccer players.

With a strong background as both a player and coach, Alexxis (Lexxi) Kiven brings valuable experience to Milken’s tennis program. A former state champion in doubles at Stevenson High School, she went on to compete at the Division I level at Dartmouth College, where she contributed to an Ivy League Championship win.

Lexxi began her coaching career as a volunteer assistant for the MIT Men’s Tennis Team before leading the Stevenson High School tennis program for three seasons, securing a 5th-place team finish in her first year. Now in her third year at Milken, she continues to foster growth and success in her players both on and off the court. In addition to coaching, she works as a commercial producer at a performance marketing agency, specializing in creating impactful content across linear and digital platforms.

Lisa Steenport is a highly accomplished volleyball coach with decades of success at the club and high school levels. A USA Volleyball CAP Level 2 and SafeSport-certified coach, “Steenie” has developed countless elite athletes, many of whom have gone on to compete at the collegiate level.

Since 1997, Lisa has led Milken’s girls' volleyball program, earning multiple Coach of the Year honors and guiding numerous teams to the playoffs. In 2024, she was inducted into the inaugural class of the Milken Hall of Fame for Excellence in Coaching.

On the national stage, Lisa has coached championship-level youth teams, including the 2014 USA Volleyball National Champion 12U team and the 2024 14U team, which finished 5th in the nation. She has also contributed to the sport through coaching at the Michigan Volleyball Camp and publishing work with USA Volleyball.

Originally from Wisconsin and a proud Green Bay Packers fan, Lisa brings a deep passion for competition, leadership, and player development to every team she coaches.
