Yozma, which means "initiative" in Hebrew, is Milken’s Social Action Leadership initiative. Through a leadership-based curriculum and lenses of Torah, students work collaboratively in groups to vision, plan, teach, and turn ideas into action. Yozma is student-driven and faculty-guided.

Members of Yozma:
  • Gain leadership skills, including advocacy, project management, and community building
  • Understand connections between Jewish learning and Social Action
  • Mobilize our community to take action
Yozma activist groups include:
  • Global Response
  • Greening
  • Children
  • Elder Care
  • Hunger
  • Homeless
  • Israel
  • Jewish World Watch

Our daughter's involvement in YOZMA has enabled her to thrive in an area she is truly passionate about.  She created the Milken Urban Farm Co-Op, has written and received grants for the school garden, and taken on a fabulous leadership role as chair of the Greening Group. Where else can a 17 year old do so much?
