Alex Farahnik '17 + Brandon Moghimi '12

For Alex and Brandon, their story is one of connection, community, and a little bit of perfect timing. Introduced through mutual friends Lauren and Brian Emrani who knew they’d be a great match—the two were already moving in closely connected circles, with many of Brandon’s friends dating Alex’s friends. They first met during Brian and Lauren’s engagement and wedding festivities, but with Alex living in New York at the time, their story didn’t fully begin just yet. It wasn’t until she moved back to Los Angeles that Brandon finally asked her out—and from there, everything fell into place.

Although their relationship didn’t start at Milken, the school played a meaningful role in shaping who they are and what they value in a partner. Alex and Brandon both credit Milken with instilling a strong Jewish identity, a deep sense of community, and a shared set of values that naturally aligned. Their time at Milken helped shape their work ethic, outlook on life, and level of observance—creating a foundation that made their connection feel easy and familiar. Being surrounded by other Milken couples only reinforces that bond, offering a sense of reassurance and shared experience that continues long after graduation.
Now both based in Los Angeles, Alex and Brandon are building their life together close to family, friends, and the Milken community that first brought them into each other’s orbit. After spending three years in New York working in the art world at an auction house, Alex recently returned to Los Angeles and is continuing her career locally. Brandon, who attended USC after Milken, has remained in Los Angeles and continues to grow his career in real estate.

Surrounded by love and grounded in shared values, Alex and Brandon’s story is a testament to the power of community—and a reminder that sometimes, the right person has been in your orbit all along.
