Leeor Abutbul '19 & Itai Darmon '19

Leeor and Itai’s love story began in a place familiar to so many Milken alumni: the classroom. The two first met as freshmen in Hebrew class, quickly forming a close friendship that carried into other shared classes — including Design Arts, where, according to Leeor, she ended up doing much of Itai’s work after he broke his shoulder – if that’s not true love, we don’t know what is!
What started as friendship eventually turned into something more during Tiferet in 10th grade, a milestone experience they both credit as the true beginning of their relationship. “Our relationship really started in Israel,” they shared — a fitting reflection of how deeply Milken’s connection to Israel became woven into both their personal story and the values they continue to carry today.
After graduating from Milken Community School, the couple continued their journey together at the University of Southern California, where Itai transferred with a little help from Milken’s very own Mr. Mankuta. Years later, they still point to Milken as one of the most defining influences on who they are individually and as a couple.
“One thing we both agree on is that we’d want our future kids to go to Milken because of the way we turned out,” they said. “The focus on Israel, the value system, the community — it’s not easy to come across something like that. Milken teaches you how to be a good person.”
For Leeor and Itai, the Milken community remains at the center of their lives today. Many of the friendships they formed freshman year are still among their closest relationships, and several of those friends will stand beside them on their wedding day this September in Palos Verdes. Family and friends will travel in from Israel and across the country to celebrate, alongside many fellow Milken alumni and USC friends who have been part of their journey from the beginning.
Today, the couple lives in West Hollywood. Leeor pursued architecture school and now works as an architect and interior designer, while Itai studied business and now works in finance. As they prepare to begin this next chapter together, their story serves as a meaningful reminder that the relationships formed at Milken often extend far beyond graduation — shaping lifelong friendships, shared values, and, sometimes, even lifelong love.
