Student Raises Money for IDF Lone Soldiers

Gabrielle Dromy ’16 organized a successful charity event that netted over $70,000 to benefit lone soldiers.
Lone soldiers are volunteers that come from other countries to join the IDF and have no family in Israel. About 170 people attended the Lone Soldiers Charity Event, which was held on August 19 at a private residence in Beverly Hills.

Gabrielle addressed the crowd about what it meant to be a lone soldier, the effect on their families, and why they needed their help. Lone soldiers and Milken alumni Daniel Tal ‘10 and Lior Tal ’12 also spoke, and revealed that going on Tiferet was instrumental in their decision to join the IDF, shared their experiences as lone soldiers, and expressed gratitude for all the donations pouring in.

The idea to plan a fundraiser first came to Gabrielle after speaking with a friend who is a lone soldier.

Says, Gabrielle, “The motto of Milken is ‘don’t stand idly by,’ and I have always been encouraged by Milken to get involved, to find my passion, and to make a difference.”
