Middle School Welcomes Grandparents for Hanukkah Celebration

The middle school had the privilege of hosting over 150 grandparents and special family friends to celebrate Hanukkah.
The morning kicked off with a breakfast where the guests gathered to share and kvel about the amazing accomplishments of their grandkids/close family friends. After being welcomed by Mr. Weisserman and four students in four languages (Hebrew, Farsi, Spanish, and Russian), the students and their guests attended two learning sessions about the two miracles of Hanukkah and the tough choices that Jews had to make during the Hellenistic Age. The morning's program concluded with a beautiful presentation in which our Performing Arts students expressed through dance, theater, and song what it means to be a Jew today. With a sufganyah in hand, the guests left with smiles on their faces and enough candles to light their hanukkiah for the last night of Hanukkah. It was truly inspirational to watch our students interact with their families and be inspired by their stories and insight.
