Micah Wexler ‘00 Knows Good Jewish Food

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Chef Micah Wexler developed a passion for the restaurant industry at a very early age. While still in school at Milken, Wexler began his first job working with legendary Italian Chef Gino Angelini at Vincenti Restaurant in Brentwood. It was this early life experience that led him to enroll in the School of Hotel Administration at Cornell University. During summer breaks from college, he worked the line at acclaimed Los Angeles kitchens including Melisse, Patina, and Spago, and after graduating, he spent a year traveling and cooking in some of the best restaurants throughout Europe.

After returning to the US, Wexler worked at top restaurants in New York and Los Angeles, before opening his first location of Wexler's Deli in 2014 with his partner Michael Kassar.

Situated in Downtown LA’s Grand Central Market, the Deli honors traditional Jewish deli classics. After continued success, he brought the concept with an expanded menu to Santa Monica in 2016. Their third location is now open in the beautiful Westfield Century City.

His work has brought him considerable recognition. In 2017, Wexler and Kassar received the Star Chefs Los Angeles Rising Star Concept Award on behalf of Wexler’s Deli. In 2012, Wexler was also named one of the Top 20 Chef’s in LA by Los Angeles Magazine, and was a semi-finalist for the James Beard Rising Star Chef in America Award.
