Varsity Basketball Players and Coach Receive CIF Honors

Congratulations to Milken Varsity Basketball players Amitai Afenjar ’18 and Aaron Harouni ’18, and Coach Mike Whiting for receiving CIF honors. Center Amitai was named CIF-Southern Section Division 4A boys basketball Player of the Year. It is only the second time a Milken player has been chosen CIF Player of the Year. Point guard Aaron was selected to the All CIF-Southern Section Division 4A boys basketball First Team.

Coach Whiting was voted CIF-Southern Section Division 4A boys basketball Coach of the Year, making him the first Milken coach to obtain the honor. He guided the team to its first CIF-Southern Section Division 4A Championship and state playoff berth.

Coach Whiting remarked humbly about the recognition he received, “I am honored to be named Coach of the Year. Any accolades that I received this year and any other year have more to do more with our players and my coaching staff sacrificing themselves for the good of the Milken Boys Basketball." Coach Whiting looks forward to next season and building upon this year’s success with returning and new players.
