Sophomore Strikes Gold Twice in National Writing Competition

Mazal tov to Aaron Saliman ’18 on winning two National Gold Medals in the prestigious Scholastic Art & Writing Awards!
Aaron's winning stories Happiness (Flash Fiction) and The Old Man and the Book Store (Short Story) previously earned Gold Keys at the regional level along with another of his works Letters to Santa (Flash Fiction). Nearly 320,000 works of art and writing were submitted in 29 categories this year, putting Aaron in the top 1% of submissions!

On his reaction to winning the awards, Aaron commented, "I am deeply honored to have my writing recognized. The process has been an amazing experience from the start, and this is a humbling way for it to end." This was his first time entering the competition.

Aaron hopes to attend the award ceremony, which will be held at Carnegie Hall in June.

The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards is one of the nation’s oldest, most prestigious, and longest-running writing and visual arts competition for teens.
