Middle School Soccer Coach (Boys & Girls)

POSITION MANAGEMENT
Under the direction of the Athletic Director, the Head of Athletics, and the Soccer Program Head, the Middle School soccer coach provides leadership, direction, and supports the middle school soccer program where needed. They must adhere to Milken Community School rules and regulations. The MS Soccer Coach must support the student-athlete concept and demonstrate concern for the health, safety, and welfare of each student-athlete. They must support, encourage, and monitor student-athletes’ academic progress. Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and the Program Head.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Instructs players on the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport. 
  • Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises. 
  • Assesses player’s skills and monitors players during competition and practice.
  • Determines game strategy. 
  • Supervises athletes during practices and competition. 
  • Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators. 
  • Rides the bus to and from practices and games.
  • Performs support tasks such as maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related records. 

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred and at least two years of soccer coaching experience.
  • Experience with student programs in a middle school setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Knowledge and understanding of all aspects of the specified sports program.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.

SALARY RANGE: $4,000 - $4,500 for season (depending on experience)
