We are successful.
Vision of the Milken Graduate
Within the three pillars of Torah, Avodah, and Gemilut Hasadim, Milken fosters responsible, trusting, and thoughtful graduates who are morally, spiritually, and intellectually grounded and engaged in their love and practice of Judaism.

Since Torah (learning) is a sacred act that fosters dignity, mastery, and tikkun olam, the Milken graduate:
  • sees the world through Jewish and American lenses.
  • actively questions, grapples, and takes risks.
  • writes with clarity and nuance.
  • speaks persuasively.
  • is an attentive reader.
  • is a resourceful problem solver.
  • thinks critically and creatively.
  • collaborates effectively.
  • integrates learning, identity, and action.
  • learns lishma.
Since Avodah (Spiritual Practice) develops rich individuality within larger circles of community, the Milken graduate:
  • balances academic, social, emotional, and physical well being.
  • possesses humility and self-confidence.
  • cultivates his/her own unique gifts, passions, and perspectives.
  • demonstrates curiosity and wonder.
  • expresses gratitude.
  • is a God wrestler.
  • learns from his/her mistakes through ongoing teshuvah.
  • identifies with the rhythms of Jewish time.
  • values community.
  • connects to Israel.
  • is a committed Jew who cares about the past, present, and future of the Jewish people.
Since Gemilut Chasadim (ethical practice) implores that we are responsible for treating ourselves and others b’tzelem elohim, the Milken graduate:
  • combines learning, doing, and reflection.
  • is true to his/her word.
  • avoids lashon hara.
  • acknowledges the good and engages in caring criticism.
  • performs regular acts of kindness.
  • does not stand idly by.
  • builds pluralistic Jewish and civic communities.
  • is a role model.
  • is responsible for the environment.
