A letter from Nachum Peterseil, Spiritual Practice Teacher and Creator/Producer of "Songs from my Childhood:”

We are thrilled to invite you to a live performance of Milken’s Kol Echad and Concert Orchestra performing the “Songs from my Childhood” Project on May 15 at 6:00PM.

For the past few months, Milken students have been a part of an incredible project called: "Songs from my Childhood".

In
partnership with Facing History and Ourselves, and with full support and great help from the Los Angeles Museum of the Holocaust (LAMOTH), students interviewed Holocaust survivors and based on these conversations, they selected four songs to record and perform.

The idea behind the project was to create a musical conversation between Holocaust survivors and students of the 21st century, and to do so by participating in a hands-on musical project that passes the music of one generation down to another. Some of the survivors will be attending the concert. The performance is open to the community.

Milken’s choir, “Kol Echad,” led by Mrs. Sarah Shapiro and the Concert Orchestra led by Dr. David Brown recorded 4 songs at the UCLA studios on March 15. CD’s of this recording will be available for free at the concert.

So far this project has been tremendously impactful to everyone who has been a part of it. Please join us to celebrate the survivors and the student work born out of this collaboration.

We are looking forward to sharing the music with you all!

Thank You and Kol Tuv,
