Get to know your coaches

Elliott D. Turner II
Head Coach: Elliott Dean Turner II

Born in the heart of Football country, San Antonio Texas. He played under the bright lights and Texas stars from little league through high school.  In college, he played Division I Football at Texas Southern University from 2000 to 2004 as both an Offensive center and guard.  Since he started playing at 7 years old, Football has been the place where Coach Turner has learned camaraderie, perseverance, and problem-solving. He is grateful to be able to share his love of the game with others, pass on knowledge and see student athletes develop, grow and succeed.
 
Coach Turner started his coaching career assisting his father’s NAJIFF team while he was in high school. He continued to coach Football every summer in college. In 2007 he moved to Oakland, California where he took coaching positions at both Hillcrest Middle School and Piedmont High School. At Hillcrest he served as Head Coach for Football, Basketball and Cross country. At Piedmont he rebuilt the Shot Put and Discus Team’s, both men and women's, leading two athletes to the regional finals. After moving to So-Cal, Coach Turner spent a short stint coaching football at both Hamilton High school and PCC.
 
In 2016 he joined the Milken coaching staff, coaching both Middle School flag Football and middle Soccer. In 2017 he became Head Coach for both the High school Football team and track program. Since his hiring, many football players have received All-CIF first team accolades with many more being recognized with honorable mention acknowledgements. Multiple teams earning playoff eligibility and college interest. With Over 28 years of coaching experience he looks to continue to lead Milken’s program to an exciting and prosperous future.

Defensive Coordinator: Shawn Gettins

Coach Gettins is a veteran teacher who loves teaching middle school students and coaching in our Milken Wildcats Athletic Program. In addition to teaching PE for students in grades 6-8, Coach Gettins is the Defensive Coordinator for our Wildcats high school football team, and coaches track and soccer at the middle school. He began his teaching career in 1996 at Pinewood School in Los Altos, California as a K-6th grade history teacher and athletic director as well as coaching flag football, volleyball and track. He went on to teach physical education at Arundel School in San Carlos while coaching high school football and track at Sequoia High School. He also taught physical education and coached football and softball at Palisades Charter High School. Coach Gettins loves helping young people learn about the benefits of exercise including building strong bodies, having fun, and working together! He spends his spare time hiking and enjoying the outdoors.
