Brandon Yeshoua ’15 Seeks Challenges and Balance

One would have a difficult time overstating how busy Brandon Yeshoua has been since graduating from Milken in 2015. Currently in a pre-med program at the University of Southern California, Brandon is also active in student government and currently serves as Director of Academic Affairs. Brandon remarks, “Through student government, I have created a mentorship program for undergraduate students to be paired with a graduate student in pursuit of a potential career similar to their mentor.” Brandon has played for the USC Men’s Soccer Team for the past two years and is president of the team this year. To support his academic study of the medical field, Brandon interns at the Orthopaedic Institute for Children at UCLA and in an infectious disease laboratory twice a week at the Health Science Campus at USC.

As a student at Milken, Brandon challenged himself to develop habits of pushing boundaries, engaging in intellectual conversations, getting involved in many aspects of the school through student government, SJC, community senate, and the soccer team.

As a recent graduate, Brandon has already gained perspective on how his years at Milken prepared him for his future, including the sense of community and the deep friendships that were formed. Brandon insists, “Trust me, you will cherish the friendships you make at Milken forever … take my advice and get out of your comfort zone.” Brandon discovered his passions for sports and medicine in high school by seizing opportunities to meet with teachers during office hours, cultivating friendships with people in different social groups, and really being an active listener in all situations.

Brandon’s passion for soccer and empathetic drive for helping athletes like himself in addition to his love for medicine guided him towards the discipline of orthopedics. Arguably, the most crucial skills that Brandon practices is balance. He noted for current and future Milken students and graduates, “Learn to balance your time so that you prioritize your health, happiness, education, and social life.” Now that’s a motto we can all get behind.
