  • Admission

    Enrollment in Camp X has no bearing on admissions for the academic year at Milken Community Schools.
  • Session Dates

    • Week 1 June 17 - June 21

  • What are the ages of kids attending Camp?

    Camp X is open to students who are entering grade 4 to grade 9. Camp X will be split into two age divisions for workshops and eXperiences.

  • Field Trip Release Forms

    All students participating in a program or course that has planned trip(s) to leave campus are required to have this form on file prior to the first day of the program or course. A student is not allowed to leave on a trip from either campus without this form. These forms are included in the enrollment kit.
  • Faculty & Staff

    Faculty and staff listed in this catalog are subject to change without notice.
  • Food Service

    Lunch service is available at each campus during our four one-week programs running June 17- July 19. Lunch is included for students enrolling in full-day sessions. For students enrolling in partial day sessions lunch is available for $45/week and must be purchased the registration process at least one week prior to attending camp. Snacks will be provided for both morning and afternoon session. Students are also allowed to bring their own snacks for the day. All meals and snacks that are served on the Milken campus are kosher.
     
  • Student Conduct and Behavior

    Camp X’s primary concern is the quality of education for its students. For the summer school to function properly, it is necessary for each member of the community to cooperate in upholding standards of politeness and respect. Students who fail to comply with a commonly accepted standard of behavior will be subject to disciplinary action. Families should refer to the Summer: Student-Parent Handbooks for specific rules and policies.
     
  • Registration and Payment

    Registration and payment for Elective Courses must be submitted online. Electronic submission of the registration form obligates parents to pay Milken the full amount of tuition for the Summer Session. Payment will reserve a space for Student at Milken for the 2018 Summer Session. A confirmation email will be sent upon completion of the registration process.

    Registration and payment forms for Upper School Academic Courses will be made available in myMilken to the parents of students approved for courses.
  • Payments

    Tuition in full is due at the time of registration. Spaces are not held without payment in full. Materials and laboratory fees, unless otherwise noted, are included with tuition. Master Card, VISA, and electronic checks are accepted as payment in full for online enrollments. Online enrollments are unable to be processed without payment, so all enrollments paid by cash or check will need to be done in the middle school main office. Other specific information is required at the time of enrollment, as is indicated on the form.
     
  • Proration of Class Fees

    Tuition will not be prorated due to absence or late entry. Because many classes are taught in sequential order, late entry to many classes is not permitted.
  • What should I do after I enroll?

    After enrolling, you will receive a confirmation email with some essential Camp X details. The week before your campers’ session starts, you will receive a reminder email with additional information about the upcoming week.
     
  • Refund Policy

    Payment for courses must be paid in full upon registration.

    Refunds are only available for registrations that are withdrawn prior to June 5, 2018.

    Registrations withdrawn between June 5, 2018 and June 16, 2018 are eligible for a 70% refund.

    No refunds will be made after June 16, 2018, regardless of student attendance. Payment for registration in courses that do not meet minimum enrollment and are, therefore, terminated will be refunded.
  • Canceled Classes

    We reserve the right to combine or cancel any program or course or to add additional sections and teachers as necessary. In some cases, a course will be offered at more than one time. In the event of a cancellation, we will make every attempt to place the student in a comparable program or course. You will be notified when your choices are unavailable. If we are unable to find a program or course that meets your needs, a full refund will be issued.
  • Refunds

    Refund Policy for Dropped Classes
    We recognize that summer plans can change. The School contracts with faculty and assumes material and other costs based upon processed enrollments. A withdrawal by a student does not change the School’s obligation and expense. Please note the following dates for processing of any refunds (
    less the non-refundable processing fee of $50.00 per student).
     
    • Withdrawals or dropped classes between March 15 and May 31 = 50% refund (less processing fee).
    • Withdrawals or dropped classes between June 1 and June 15 = 25% refund (less processing fee).
    • No refunds are given for withdrawals made after June 15.
     
    In the event of a canceled class or program, Milken will issue a refund (including the processing fee) based on the method of payment.
     
  • Enrollment

    Enrollment is open to the public. Enrollment deadlines will vary by course and will be noted in the course descriptions. Enrollment is based on a first-come-first-served basis. Many programs and courses have a minimum and maximum enrollment. Waitlists for most courses are not available.
     
  • Can I make a deposit or partial payment for my child's class?

    Our online enrollment system does not allow for partial payments or reservations without payment.
     
  • What’s the difference between a Workshop and a Studio session?

    Workshop sessions are more structured learning environments with specific learning goals for the week. Studios are more about open creativity time.
     
  • Can I enroll in the same eXperience more than one week or will it be there same both time?

    You can enroll in the same eXperience for more than one week and they need not be consecutive. Your instructors will help you continue where you left off from the previous week you attended to go deeper into what you are really interested in.
  • Do you offer any type of financial aid?

    There is not tuition assistance offered for this summer program.
  • What time do sessions start each day? 

    Morning sessions are from 8:30 - 11:30 AM, Lunch is 11:30 AM - 12:00 PM(provided for those doing both morning & afternoon), Afternoon sessions are (12:00 - 3:00 PM)
     
  • Does my student have to attend all day or a certain number of weeks?

    No. Campers can enroll in full or half days for each one-week session. They may attend as many weeks as their schedule permits.
     
  • Can my child be with their friend in class?

    Friendship is encouraged! Kids wishing to attend Camp X with their friend or friends should sign up for the same session.
     
  • Do you provide transportation?

    There is no transportation services for this summer program.
     
  • Can parents volunteer to be in the classroom?

    While parent enthusiasm is appreciated, our strong facilitators are more than prepared to handle all classroom needs
  • When can I visit my child's class?

    Parents are encouraged to join in Friday end-of-week closing sessions to see the culmination of their child’s projects. For Morning sessions this would be from 11:00 to 11:30 AM on Friday. For Afternoon sessions this would be from 2:30 to 3:00 PM on Friday.
  • Do you offer a sibling discount?

    There is no sibling discount for this program.
  • Do you prorate fees for missed days or weeks, if my child cannot attend?

    Tuition will not be prorated dues to absences or late enrollment.

  • Dates

    Summer School runs from June 24 - July 25, 2019. There will be no school on July 4.
  • Tuition

    Full-day courses: $1495
    Half-day courses: $750
  • Financial Aid

    Only students who receive financial aid for tuition are eligible for financial aid for Summer Session. The Financial Aid Application form is due to Valerie Shane at 5:00 PM on June 1. This is a firm deadline and late applications may not be considered.
  • Registration and Payment

    Registration and payment for Elective Courses must be submitted online. Electronic submission of the registration form obligates parents to pay Milken the full amount of tuition for the Summer School. Payment will reserve a space for Student at Milken for the 2019 Summer School. A confirmation email will be sent upon completion of the registration process.

  • Attendance Policy

    To earn High School Credit for Summer Session course work the following criteria apply:
    1. Only one (1) absence is permitted; students will not receive credit upon the second absence.
    2. Only three (3) tardies or early dismissals are permitted; students will not receive credit upon the fourth tardy or early dismissal.
    3. Students with absences and/or tardies that exceed the number permitted are invited to continue attending the class as an audit. Students who audit a course will not earn credit for the course.
  • Refunds
