Boys Varsity Basketball Team Earns Jewish Hoops America Awards

Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Basketball team and its coach and players for earning several awards from Jewish Hoops America for the 2016-2017 season. Head Coach Mike Whiting was named Coach of the Year and Aaron Harouni ’17 was named to the 2nd Team All-Jewish Hoops America, while Honorable Mention was earned by Amitai Afenjar ’17.

According to the Jewish America Hoops article, “Milken's Whiting led the Wildcats to the school's first-ever California sectional title and the #2 spot in the Jewish Hoops America National Top 25, the team's highest finish in the 11 years of the poll.”

Congratulations to all of the members of the Boys Varsity Basketball team for an amazing season as the 2017 CIF Division 4A Boys Basketball Champions.

Middle School Varsity Flag Football Team Claims League Championship

Congratulations to the Middle School Flag Football Team for winning the San Fernando Valley Private School League Championship on November 16. They prevailed over AGBU 14-8 in an exciting matchup. After scoring the first touchdown, Milken was ahead 6-0, but AGBU scored quickly and then the Wildcats were down 8-6 early in the second quarter. Milken scored early in the fourth quarter, securing the win. Several players had notable performances. Joey Bender ’22 had several key receptions including a touchdown. Matt Hason ’22 had several critical third down conversions as well as a touchdown and a red zone interception. Jack Siegal ’22 converted one of the only 2 point conversions of the season, which gave the team breathing room. Brandon Damico ‘22 was credited with a late game pass defense that helped end an AGBU potential game winning drive.

Middle School Varsity Girls Basketball Plays in Championship Game

The Middle School Girls Varsity Basketball Team was the runner up in the San Fernando Valley Private School League Championship on November 16. They fell to a strong Viewpoint team in the championship game. The Wildcats were behind early, but after an inspiring half time team meeting, the team came back with a vengeance and began closing the gap. In the end, they ran out of time and could not overcome the deficit. They had a great season and finished in second place out of eight teams. One of the season’s highlights was an exciting 26-21 come-from-behind victory over the Wesley Lions in the semifinals.
