Boys Varsity Basketball Captures First CIF Championship

The Boys Varsity Basketball Team claimed their first ever CIF SS Division 4A Championship on March 1!
Defeating Shalhevet 54-52 in a hard fought thriller, the team played their hearts out before a sold out crowd. The exciting game featured many lead changes throughout and even a buzzer-beating half-court shot by Doron Matian '18 to give Milken the lead at halftime.

Amitai Afenjar '18 led the scorers with 18 points, while Aaron Harouni '18 and Doron Matian '18 both contributed 11 points. It was a sweet victory for the #5 seeded Wildcats who compiled a 22-6 record.

Coach Mike Whiting commented, "I’m excited for the boys. There's such a buzz at the school, and the fans really pushed us over the edge in the semifinals and the championship games. I'm so happy for the school that we finally won a CIF Southern Section Championship!"

The Wildcats play next in the first round of the state playoffs on Wednesday, March 8. Go Wildcats!
