12/6/2017 - School Closed Thursday and Friday

Dear Milken families,

As you know, we are carefully watching the danger posed by the Skirball fire. The winds are expected to pick up and shift tonight, which increases the risk from the fire to our campus. School will be closed both Thursday and Friday of this week, and no one will be permitted to access campus until an all clear is given.

Please know that our primary concern is safety, and we will be incredibly vigilant about making sure campus is safe before reopening. The entire campus must be cleaned and wiped down, including our HVAC systems and filters, and we will have environmental teams out to school to ensure the air quality is safe.

Once an all-clear is given for our operations team to enter campus, it will take us at least another full day to ensure environmental safety. The earliest campus will reopen for classes and school activities is Monday, December 11, 2017. Until then, all campus activities will be cancelled.

It is possible the calendar for the academic year may be impacted. We will not know for sure until we know when school will resume. We will keep you informed as soon as we have this information. Please note that the Milken Messenger will be sent on Friday this week, and will include information about the process for re-opening school.

I am incredibly proud of this community, and the way it has responded in this difficult time. Please know that if your family has been displaced, or if you need additional assistance, you can reply to this email to contact me directly.

Please keep all those affected by the fire in your hearts and in your prayers.

B’Shalom,
Gary Weisserman
