SSS estimates a family’s ability to pay based on the materials submitted; we use those figures as the baseline for our determinations, taking into consideration school policies and the resources available for returning students. SSS will use the financial information in the PFS itself to evaluate a family’s situation, and automatically apply a waiver if the family qualifies under criteria using Federal poverty guidelines as a starting point, combined with a cutoff for families with substantial assets. The end result will be a process where once a qualified family submits a PFS, SSS simply will not require payment. For further information: http://sssbynais.org/fee-waivers/
