X-Learning engages the whole school community in the design process; connects students’ learning to their interests, real world problems or action; cultivates students’ innovation and entrepreneurial skills.
Our Makerspace is designed to provide students with a learning environment where they can imagine, engineer, and create. Students will be introduced to fundamental skill-building projects, such as soft circuitry and engaging design challenges that they can explore either individually or collaboratively. The digital design and fabrication tools range from simple screwdrivers to state-of-the art 3D printers and a laser cutter. Ultimately, the Makerspace is a place where students can begin to develop an innovator’s mindset and the competence to build what they can imagine.
MIX (Milken Innovator’s Xpo)
MIX is the student showcase of their X-learning experiences over the course of the year. Eighth grade students will display the work that they have completed on year-long, independent, “passion” projects. Seventh grade students will have the opportunity to share one or more pieces of X-Learning, the process of X-Learning, and potentially an independent project they complete in the second semester.
