Milken’s Middle School's Advisory program provides students crucial support and direction on their path to academic, emotional and social growth. We seek to prepare them for roles as effective community leaders with sharp minds, generous hearts and kind souls.
Middle School Advisory is a two-year program. Students gather in mixed-gender advisories of 12 to 14 students, led by two co-advisors.
Advisory surrounds each middle schooler with an intimate cohort of peers, under the guidance of dedicated adult mentors. An essential element of the Middle School experience, the program enables advisees to develop key social, organization and study skills, as well as to receive support as they navigate the challenges of adolescence.
Advisories meet four times each week to grapple with issues and themes related to adolescent academic and social development. The program tackles topics including:
-
Orientation and community building
-
Study and organization skills
-
Digital citizenship
-
Identity development and wellness
