Students Present Israel 9/11 Memorial Photo to Local Fire Station

On Friday, September 11, students and a faculty member, along with the Israeli Consulate and the Jewish National Fund, presented a framed photograph of Israel’s 9/11 Living Memorial Plaza in Jerusalem to the local fire station on Mulholland Drive.
In an emotional ceremony, the Israeli Consulate representative shared their gratitude to the firefighters whose New York partners worked tirelessly to save lives during the September 11 events.

Rabbi Yardeni-Funk addressed the fire captain and firefighters and shared an emotional D'var Torah on the critical importance of keeping the mitzvah of Pikuah Nefesh, saving a life. Juniors, Amanda Hartstein, Lauren Mokhtarzadeh, Brandon Ptasznik, and Daniel Woznica, spoke beautifully about their gratitude to the firefighters for keeping Milken students safe and protecting the school property from fires.

The 9/11 memorial in Jerusalem is the only monument in the world outside of the United States that commemorates and names every person who perished on 9/11. In addition, the base of the memorial statue is made of metal remnants from the wreckage of the Twin Towers.
