Moot Beit Team Argues Its Way to Top of National Competition

Yasher Koach to our Moot Beit Din team!
Juniors Yonah Bernat-Kunin, Eliana Melmed, Noa Rubin, and Mara Saliman, along with their coach Rabbi Neal Scheindlin, took first place in the Kagan Division at the RAVSAK Moot Beit Din competition.

This is the second year in a row that Milken has come out on top in their division! The rigorous national competition, which was held April 17-19, featured 28 teams from Jewish high schools from across the US, Canada, and Israel.

The annual competition, which is held at a different location each year, has students examine contemporary issues through halakhah (Jewish law). Before the competition—Milken began preparing last fall—students study a variety of Jewish texts and prepare written opinions explaining their ruling and their interpretation of the sources. After receiving feedback from the judges, teams prepare an oral presentation. At the competition, they present an oral argument summarizing their positions before a panel of judges. This year’s topic was on social media, Internet privacy, and communications ethics.
