Mitchell Academy of Science and Technology (MAST) Science Research students Josh Rusheen and Jonathan Zur recently addressed the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), presenting their science research project on radiation and micrometeoroid shielding. "Presenting at the AIAA conference was an amazing experience," said team captain Rusheen. "Having our work and poster appear with exhibits by companies such as Boeing, Northrup Grumman and Lockheed Martin was truly an honor. We really enjoyed speaking with representatives from these companies and were able to receive great advice and incredible contacts. After giving our presentation, we were more motivated than ever to continue pursuing our idea." The AIAA SPACE 2012 Conference theme this year focused on Creating a
Sustainable Vision for Space and took place at the convention center in
Pasadena from September 11-13.
With MAST teammates, Milana Bochkur Dratver, Jonah Schatz and Jake Davidson, Rusheen and Zur were distinguished last year as semi-finalists in the Conrad Spirit of Innovation Award.
