The 2010 Literary Magazine

The Literary Magazine at Milken began as an elective class and has now become a student publication supported by Milken’s Creative Writing Program. The editorial staff solicits artwork, prose and poetry from the community and works with faculty advisor Jane St. Clair to map a theme each year, based on the submitted work. Students review and place art with text, edit selected work and help design the layout using Adobe Creative Suite. The Creative Writing faculty encourages their students to submit, and each year the publication is printed in perfect bind and a copy is given to all students. The magazine highlights the work of Milken’s creative writing community and its Writes of Passage program through publication. The work of making a book enables editors to discover new relationships of words and story to visual art and imagery. For writers of all ages at Milken, the literary magazine offers a public voice: the opportunity to hone their work and see its polished draft in print.
