Service Learning Shines in the SOVA Turkey Drive

Dr Fuller and Samantha SchwartzHats off to the combined work of the Middle and Upper School Service Learning community in this year's unprecedented effort to feed those in need on Thanksgiving. The Hesed Minyan, the Middle School campaign and the students in Bridge to YOZMA really pulled together to promote the food collection in very creative ways. The combined Schools donated over 2,000 pounds of turkey and nearly 1,000 pounds of food, totaling close to 3,000 pounds of food. Ms. Wendy Ordower, Director of Service Learning, was thrilled with this year's effort, wondering "Was it the turkey costume that Dr. Lichti wore at morning carpool? Was it the pilgrim hat Mr. Fuller wore at Town Meeting? Was it the FirstClass turkey icon that popped up on all students' e-mail accounts? Or, the creative flyer that the Middle School put together for this? All of these imaginative first efforts seemed to have inspired the Milken community to live very generously this year. The whole community donated like they never have before. Thank you!"
