1996
Tal Marom Barak accepted a position at UCLA as a Communications Specialist at the http://www.uclafund.ucla.edu/ UCLA Fund. Her background prior to this role was in advertising and marketing strategy with a BA in Communication from UCSD and a MBA from Pepperdine's Graziadio School of Business and Management.
UCLA is a public university that receives only 15% of its funding from the state of California. To that end, fundraising is a very important part of assuring its continued success as a world-class university. The UCLA Fund is an umbrella organization that fund raises for over 70 different areas for the university including the undergraduate college and all of the professional schools such as law and business. The "Communications Specialist" is part of the Marketing and Operations team and Tal is currently responsible for writing communications and working to advance UCLA Fund's marketing/communications strategy.
1997
Tal Almany is currently working as a Media Buyer for Adconion Media in Santa Monica. He has two children (Noah and Hannah) and he is expecting his third child with his wife Amy in October of this year.
1998
Michael Rosen married Jacqueline Cohen, on March 28th 2010. The ceremony was held in Melbourne, Australia in a vineyard on the outskirts of the city.
1999
Jeff Ovadya will be getting married to Stacey Anderson this July 4th at The London Hotel.
Michael Hanasab has joined the Beverly Hills law firm of Jamra & Jamra where he practices exclusively family law.
After almost 4 years on The Phantom of the Opera national tour, Emily Powell decided it was time for a change and accepted a position as the Associate Company Manager of the Mary Poppins national tour, coming to a city near you.

David Chasin plans to marry his fiancé Meredith Siegel in March 2011.
Brent Ershoff has graduated UCSF Medical School and has been accepted to do his residency at UCLA in Anesthesiology.

Beginning this summer Jennifer Rutzen will be the Assistant Principal of Kadima
Day School in West Hills.
Beginning in September 2010, Jake Sherkow will be working as a law clerk for Judge Garaufis in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, in Brooklyn, New York. He currently works as a litigation attorney at the law firm, Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, in New York, New York.
Bryan Zive is the full time Music Director/Cantorial Soloist at Temple Sinai in Denver, CO, a 1200 family reform congregation. He is also a touring musician, composer and educator featuring contemporary Jewish rock music. One of his pieces, "Rock and Redeemer" was included on URJ Press/Trancontinental Music's Ruach 5769 album of the top 18 new musical compositions throughout the Reform Movement.
2001
Paula (Birnberg) Baum married her law school sweetheart, Brian Baum on December 27, 2009 at Temple Israel of Hollywood. Alana Alpert '01 performed the ceremony.
Ben Maddahi has been made partner at APG, a music publishing company owned by Atlantic Records. Together with his partner, Ben publishes several #1 and Top 10 hits. He also continues to manage platinum selling producer and DJ, Felli Fel, who has sold
over 1 million downloads to date.
Sharon (Rudy) Sindel graduated from Phillips Graduate Institute with her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Forensics. She is obtaining her post-doctoral hours for licensure at Tarzana Treatment Centers.
2002
While plugging away at a doctorate in Middle Eastern studies at
Princeton, Elisabeth Cohen has also co-founded College Students for
Enrichment in Secondary Schools (CSESS), a program that places
undergrads from Harvard (her alma mater) in five New York school
classrooms as teachers; they teach elective courses the schools don’t

Sasha Bass graduated from Fordham University School of Law in May magna cum laude, and will take the New York bar exam. She will be working at Sherman & Sterling LLP in Manhattan in October.
Sarah Rachelle Fortman graduated from UCLA with a B.A. in Anthropology in 2008 and was honored to sing the National Anthem at the College of Letters & Sciences commencement ceremony. In Summer 2009, she joined Cantor Nathan Lam and 100 other cantors from
around the world on a mission to Poland/Israel in order to connect Jewish history
through music. For the past year she has been living in Jerusalem as a participant
in an artist's residency program called WUJS, where she focused on her singing &
cultivated her love for photography, while soaking up Israeli culture & improving
her Hebrew. While in Jerusalem, she performed in her first solo cabaret show called
"Strength From the Undertow." During the course of her year in Israel, Sarah ventured
into unknown territory when she went backpacking around Europe by herself for 3
months. After traveling to 16 countries in less than a year, Sarah has finally returned
home to LA. Now that she's back, she plans to continue working on her singing &
hopes to show her photography professionally.
Ari Friedland and Nim Cohen will be traveling together this June through September
to Israel, Singapore, Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Bali and Australia before
heading off to business school in the fall. Ari is leaving his private equity position
at The Carlyle Group and will be attending Stanford's Graduate School of Business.
Nim is leaving his venture capital position at Key Venture Partners and will be
attending Harvard Business School.
Brandon Kopald will begin a one year pre-doctoral internship in neuropsychology
at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in July.
Aliyah Phillps is in her second year of law school at American University Washington
College of Law in Washington DC. She is the President of the Jewish Law
Students Association, and the Note and Comment Editor of the American
University International Law Review. She is finishing up a spring
internship at United States Immigration Court in Arlington, Virginia,
and beginning a research project on statelessness for the United Nations
High Commission on Refugees.
Todd Reimer went public at the 2010 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books where he
launched his debut novel, Inferno, and his creative online platform, ToddRiemer.com
all under the umbrella of the Todd Riemer VISON.
Cambridge Who's Who is the fastest-growing publisher of executive, professional
and entrepreneur biographies in the world today. This year, Cambridge Who's Who
recognized and accepted our very own Sophia Tabaroki for her work as a clinical
study coordinator and research associate at LAC+USC Medical Center, her success
in real estate, and her dedication to education as an independent tutor and mentor
as well as a basketball coach. In addition, this year, Sophia graduated from Touro
University with a public health degree. She plans to continue her services and give
back to the community in the years to come.
Joey Vaisman will be graduate from the University of Toledo College of Medicineto
begin his residency in anesthesiology at USC. He will return to Los Angeles in 2011
with his wife Lindsay and son Oliver.

Jason Goldman was asked to serve a term as Psychology and Neuroscience Editor for
ResearchBlogging.org. Each week he will select three to four of the best posts in those areas

Alison Kase is graduating from Harvard University and receiving her M.Ed in Teacher
Education. She will be staying in Cambridge for at least the next year, and working
as a high school English teacher. She traveled through India with fellow alum, Shir
Pridonoff.
Danny Rabinovitch is a Captain in the US Army stationed at Fort Hood Texas. He recently
returned from a year long deployment to Iraq.
Jamie (Powell) Stein got married in November 2009 to Jared Stein. She recently launched
her independent businesses in Wedding/Event Planning/Coordinating ("Jamie's Events
& Weddings") and Cake Design/Decorating ("Feed Your Soul Cakes") and is graduating
in May 2010 with an MBA in Non-Profit Management and a Masters in Jewish Communal
Studies.
2005
Melanie Kanter is graduating from Stanford with a masters in Management Science
& Engineering.
After working at KOREH L.A. for a year as an AmeriCorps Promise Fellow, Melissa
Pottash will be attending UCLA in the Fall to earn her master's in social work.
Allison Rudy has been accepted to the Argov Fellowship Program at the Interdisciplinary
School, Herzliya, Israel. The honors fellowship is a combination of courses, study
tours, and projects to create the future leaders of Israel at home and abroad.
Danielle Sheldon will be graduating from Tel Aviv University with a master's in Security
Studies, having written a thesis on the Islamic Radicalization Process in the West.
2006
Dominic Kalms is currently living in New York with his girlfriend and new puppy.
He was just accepted to Columbia's Graduate School of International and Public
Affairs and will start school in the fall.
This past spring Thais Miller took a Craft of Fiction class with E.L. Doctorow (author
of Ragtime and The Book of Daniel) in NYU's in MFA department. In addition to writing
future letters of recommendation for fellowships, Doctorow offered to read over
her new novel, BEACH RIOTS! (about the 1965 Watts Riots and beach party films) this
fall and help her look for a literary agent. She was accepted to the Iowa Writers
Workshop summer fiction workshop program with James Alan McPherson. Through this
program, she will be editing some older novel manuscripts and finishing up BEACH
RIOTS! She has been accepted as a staff reader for the Washington Square Review
(NYU's professional creative writing journal). Thais will complete her M.A. in Creative
Writing for Social Activism from NYU's Gallatin School of Individualized Study in
May 2011. She is also traveling to Germany this summer for fun.
Daniella Namvar will marry her fiancé Nadav in Los Angeles this May.
Danny Philipson will be graduating from UCSB summa cum laude in June with a BS in
Pharmacology, and will be receiving the Academic Excellence Award as a member of
the Honors Program as well as College Honors.
Lindsay Werbin graduated from the University of Southern California in May 2010
with a Bachelors Degree in History. She began law school in the Los Angeles
area in fall 2010.
2007
Jacqueline Lowy plans on enlisting in the IDF in July 2012.
Rose Foran will begin her master's in International Security at Sciences Po
Paris this fall. In addition, she will be working as a foreign correspondent for
USA TODAY.
Jaye Kasper spent the Spring 2010 semester studying abroad in Budapest, Hungary
and now is preparing to take the LSAT exam in the fall.
Jacqui Lowy just returned from a semester abroad in London, where she met up with many Milken alumni throughout Europe. She is working for the Department of Homeland Security this summer in downtown Los Angeles.

Noah Ickowitz was elected to the UC Berkeley Student Senate for the 2011-12 academic year.
