The American Library Association’s Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) has put together a number of reading lists and administers a number of awards. Here is a sampling of its Annual Awards for the Best Young Adult Books:

Michael L. Printz Award for Excellence in Young Adult Literature  

YALSA Award for Excellence in Nonfiction for Young Adults  

The Alex Awards are given to ten books written for adults that have special appeal to young adults.

The William C. Morris YA Debut Award honors a book written by a first-time author.

Odyssey Award for Excellence in Audiobook Production  

TeenReads.com provides lists of books of interest to young adults. The site has a massive Ultimate Teen Reading List. (Unfortunately, it’s only arranged alphabetically and not broken down by genre, but it’s great for browsing!) TeenReads also has information on the newest books on its Cool New Books, New in Paperback, and Coming Soon pages. The site features Suggested Book Club Selections and Reading Guides. Another page of interest to students is a list of the most contemporary adaptations of Books into Movies.
